Synopsis

Following Batya and the organization she established, aptly named “Dead End”, the film introduces four women pushed to activism by their refusing ex-spouses. The stories are incredibly troubling: lives stopped, shattered. Precisely because they respect Jewish law, these women can’t simply re-marry or have more children. They live from one fruitless religious court hearing to another, under constant and crushing stress.

The bigger picture created by these stories is one of an ultra-traditional, oppressive, irrelevant establishment, which is under tremendous pressure to adapt to modern times.

David Ofek, one of the leading documentary directors of Israel. Since 1993 he has directed numerous award-winning films in Israel and around the world including 'No 17', which won the Special Jury Award at Hot Docs International Film Festival in 2004.

Mia Webb is a documentary scriptwriter, editor and developer. Worked as a content editor at CoPro and many other film production.
