Synopsis

KEEP MOVING FORWARD is a documentary featuring a Vietnam veteran who finds peace from his PTSD through Disney. The film examines war veteran, Guy Spagnoli’s, experience with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as a result from the Vietnam War and his alternative therapy that involves an affinity for all things Disney. Guy provides a portal into one veteran’s and his family’s experience with PTSD lending insight to understanding the condition on an individual, family, and humanistic level.

Brent Bandemer is an award-winning Chicago-based filmmaker. He discovered documentary filmmaking while studying post-production at Columbia College Chicago. When directing a short documentary on a sub-culture quickly transformed into a character story, he saw the true dynamic nature of the documentary genre. After winning the Audience and Jury awards for his film Gone at Columbia’s student film festival, he immersed himself in documentary courses and his affinity continued to grow along with his editing and directing skills. Upon graduating, he was accepted into Kartemquin Films’ internship program where he was able to experience film production at various stages. He currently works as a freelance editor.
